“I am powerful.”

From leaders on the job to leaders in life, we offer youth opportunities to experience gainful employment and greater responsibility, earning a stipend and the respect of their peers. In our StreetLeader leadership program, high-achieving high school youth serve as role models and tutors for our younger youth, passing the sense of leadership and responsibility down from one generation to the next.

StreetLeaders receive training throughout their employment to enhance their on-the-job skills and cultivate their own personal interests. The StreetLeader program also provides mentorship support, college preparation training, and several opportunities to participate in expeditionary learning experiences including hiking, fishing, and camping. For most of the StreetLeaders, this is their first job. Says one former StreetLeader, Markabo,

“being a StreetLeader means

taking responsibility for your actions

at Tree Street Youth, and everywhere you go.”

In addition to the StreetLeader program, Tree Street Youth offers several other opportunities for leadership development and progression. From coaching an elementary-level sports team to planning a community service project, local youth are able to explore their personal leadership styles while empowering themselves and their peers.
