Weeklong Samara Service Learning Opportunities
We welcome organizations, youth groups, and college and high school students* to travel from across the United States to spend spring break or part of summer vacation assisting with service projects and supporting Tree Street’s youth outreach efforts. Samara Service Learning groups also engage in meaningful reflection and discussions on the uniquely inspiring opportunities and challenges that affect the Lewiston community in an effort to increase awareness, break down stereotypes, and build relationships across lines of difference.
Projects & Programs
Samara Service Learning Groups spend about half of their time working with children in our after-school or summer camp programming and the remaining half assisting with facility upkeep and small construction projects. Activities with youth include homework assistance, mentoring, arts and crafts, sports, and special events. Labor projects, both skilled and unskilled, range from light building repair, painting, cleaning, and grounds upkeep.
