Tree Street Youth fosters unique community service and team-building opportunities to groups of between 10-40 individuals. We welcome teams of all kinds-from organizations, youth groups, corporations, high schools, colleges, etc.-to spend an afternoon, a day, or entire week engaging in learning opportunities/service projects and/or assisting with our after-school and summer camps.

Weekday Samara Service Learning Opportunities

Groups interested in one-day experiences are welcome weekdays throughout the year. One day experiences typically last between four to six hours. As our organization relies heavily on the efforts of volunteers to maintain our facilities, one-day work projects usually include indoor and outdoor maintenance, yard work, cleaning, painting, and light construction and supporting at after school and summer programming.

Weeklong Samara Service Learning Opportunities

We welcome organizations, youth groups, and college and high school students* to travel from across the United States to spend spring break or part of summer vacation assisting with service projects and supporting Tree Street’s youth outreach efforts. Samara Service Learning groups also engage in meaningful reflection and discussions on the uniquely inspiring opportunities and challenges that affect the Lewiston community in an effort to increase awareness, break down stereotypes, and build relationships across lines of difference.

Projects & Programs

Samara Service Learning Groups spend about half of their time working with children in our after-school or summer camp programming and the remaining half assisting with facility upkeep and small construction projects. Activities with youth include homework assistance, mentoring, arts and crafts, sports, and special events. Labor projects, both skilled and unskilled, range from light building repair, painting, cleaning, and grounds upkeep.
